On March 22nd,
Dallin opened his mission call. We had driven home that evening from a volleyball tournament, which had been held in La Jolla,
CA. We had just enough time to shower,
change, and welcome Kenna and Logan, (who had driven down from Provo to share
this special night with him), as well as a house full of Dallin’s friends and
extended family. The support was
overwhelming and we were all excited!
After a prayer was offered, Dallin read out loud, “Dear Elder
Bryan: You are hereby called to serve as
a missionary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. You are assigned to labor in the Chile
Concepción Mission. It is anticipated
that you will serve for a period of 24 months.
You should report to the Mexico Missionary Training Center on July 16,
2014. You will prepare to preach the
gospel in the Spanish language.”
The whole room erupted in
cheers and applause! How thrilled we are
for Dallin! He will love the people of
Chile, and they will love him. His
mission is perfect for him. And what a
tender mercy that he gets to report to the CCM in Mexico City for 6 weeks
beforehand. Truly, our cups “runneth
over”. Our family will share in his joys
as we read his weekly emails, and pray for him daily. On Wednesday, as we take Dallin to the airport, our
hearts will be full, but we know and trust the Lord will watch over him. He will return from his mission a man of God.
“Lift up your heart and rejoice, for the hour of your mission is come; and your tongue shall be loosed, and you shall declare glad tidings of great joy unto this generation.” D&C 31:3
